What can be patented in India?
An invention can be patented if it is new, involves an inventive step, and is capable of industrial application, and is not excluded under Section 3 of the Patents Act, 1970 (for example, abstract ideas or mere discoveries). In your free consultation we'll assess where your invention stands.
Should I file a provisional or complete specification first?
A provisional specification secures an early filing date while your invention is still being refined; a complete specification fully defines the claims. Many inventors file provisional first and follow with the complete within 12 months. We'll advise which route fits your timeline and budget.
How long does a patent last in India?
A granted patent lasts 20 years from the date of filing, subject to payment of annual renewal fees. We track and manage those renewals so your protection doesn't lapse.
Can I protect my invention outside India?
Yes. Through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) or the Paris Convention route you can pursue protection in multiple countries. We coordinate international filings and work with associates abroad where needed.
Will my idea stay confidential before filing?
